Inside bets cover single numbers or small groups on the grid. Outside bets cover larger groups — they win more often and pay less.

Zero is not red, black, odd or even. When the ball lands on 0 (or 00 on an American wheel), outside bets lose unless the table’s rules say otherwise. Variants with multipliers change these payouts — always check the table’s paytable.

37 pockets: numbers 1 to 36 and one green 0. The house edge on standard bets is about 2.70%.
American — double zero
38 pockets: numbers 1 to 36, 0 and 00. The extra pocket raises the house edge to about 5.26%.

What is the difference between European and American roulette?
A European wheel has 37 pockets (1–36 and a single 0). An American wheel has 38 (it adds 00). The extra pocket raises the house edge from about 2.70% to about 5.26%, so check which wheel a table uses.
Can I bet after the ball is spun?
Bets are accepted only while the betting timer is running. When the dealer announces “no more bets”, the layout locks for that round.
Is there a system that beats roulette?
No. Every spin is independent, and betting systems such as doubling after a loss do not change the house edge. They only change how quickly your balance can rise or fall.
Why do some tables pay differently?
Some roulette variants add random multipliers to certain numbers and reduce the standard straight-up payout to fund them. The table’s information panel shows its exact paytable.
